JAMES WALTER "Old Town Blues" ©PA74 Music Publishing

Old Town Blues is a song about escapism and the desire to leave behind a tired old world to seek new adventures. It was written in 2016 while I was travelling through Mexico. It was produced and recorded at the Chamber Studios in Edinburgh in 2018. Marty Hayley produced the song and provided the instrumentation, as well as mixing and mastering. I wrote the lyrics, ,melodies and sung vocals on the track.

Verse 1

Play me a new hand

An ace for a grand plan

The Joker I can’t stand

Oh save me from this blues town

Then take me to bright lights

And drunken street fights

And new love and new sites

Oh save me from this blues town

I’m tired of this same tune

Save it for an old croon

Change should come soon

Oh save me from this blues town

Oh will you fix my future

Mend it with a suture

Oh any time that suits you

save me from this blues town

Chorus

Oh will you save me from this Blues Town (Save me from this blues town)

I’m crazy, crazy for sticking around (Save me from this blues town)

Oh will you save me from this Blues Town (Save me from this blues town)

I’m crazy, crazy for sticking around

Verse 2

We’re all heading south bound

I’m tired of these sad clowns

Their angry cartoon frowns

Oh save me from this blues town

Oh it’s a brand new serenade

I’m ready for the grand parade

A marching cavalcade

Oh save me from this blues town

Oh will you fix my future

Mend it with a suture

Oh any time that suits you

save me from this blues town

Chorus 2

Oh can you save me from this blues town (Save me from this blues town)

I’m crazy, crazy for sticking around (Save me from this blues town)

Oh will you save me from this blues town (Save me from this blues town)

crazy, so crazy for sticking around
